On fal specifically. Its landing page says: "Sign in and the fal sandbox runs MiniMax H3 Max free: five generations a day at up to 15 seconds each." Step one of its own three-step guide is "Sign in to fal".
Coverage from the launch period describes a no-login route as well, but disagrees with itself on the resolution, and several reports say the 15-second allowance requires adding payment details. We have quoted what each page says and dated it rather than settling the argument for them.

Every second of output is real GPU time. At MiniMax's own list price that is $0.08 a second at 768P. Five free 15-second clips a day therefore costs somebody about six dollars a day, per person, every day.
So when a site offers unlimited free video, one of two things is true: they are burning their own hardware to buy your attention, or the terms are about to change. Both have already happened in this category — free tiers here have been narrowed, moved behind sign-in, or moved behind a card, sometimes within a week of launch.
