Kling or MiniMax H3 Max: the queue is the part nobody prices
Kling reaches native 4K and multi-shot storyboards. It also costs three to ten times more per second, and the waiting is a real line item.

Most people arriving at this comparison are not choosing between two models on a spec sheet. They are already using Kling, something went wrong, and they are checking whether the alternative is real.
So let me split it honestly, because Kling does things MiniMax H3 Max cannot, and it also has a failure mode that never shows up in a feature table.
What Kling does that H3 Max does not
Native 4K in a single pass. The o3/4k endpoints output 4K directly, with
no upscale stage. MiniMax H3 Max stops at 768p. If your deliverable is 4K this
is not a comparison, it is a requirement, and Kling meets it.
Multi-shot storyboarding. You can hand Kling a shot list rather than one description and get a sequence back. H3 Max generates one continuous take.
Element referencing with voice. The O3 line takes up to seven combined references — characters, objects, style images, even a video element — and carries them through the generation. It also does multilingual audio across Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean and Spanish.
Any one of those three is a legitimate reason to stay on Kling and pay for it.
What it costs
Kling's pricing has more tiers than anything else in this category, and fal's summary page and its individual endpoint pages do not obviously agree — so check the exact endpoint you plan to call rather than a headline. Two anchors I am confident about, both from fal's own endpoint pages:

Across the wider Kling 3.0 family, fal quotes text-to-video from $0.168 a second at the cheapest audio-off setting up to $0.392 with voice control.
So the cheapest audio-on Kling tier is about 3.5× MiniMax H3 Max, and the 4K tier is about ten times. For a model whose 4K is genuinely native rather than upscaled, ten times is not outrageous. For iteration passes it is unaffordable, which is the actual point.
The part nobody prices
Here is where I have to be careful about what I am claiming.
The most common complaints about Kling in public reviews are not about the model. They are about waiting and about being charged for failures — users reporting hours-long queues for short clips, and generations that come back FAILED with the credits already gone. Those reports are about the Kling consumer app and its credit system, not about the fal API, and I have not reproduced them myself.
But the underlying point survives the caveat, and it is the reason this comparison matters: a render you wait hours for is a different tool from a render that comes back before you have finished reading your own prompt. Not better or worse — different. One supports a workflow where you try eight versions of a hook; the other supports a workflow where you write one prompt very carefully because you only get one go before lunch.

- You are still deciding what the shot is → H3 Max at 480p, $0.025 a second, then take the winner to whichever model delivers.
The split I would actually recommend to someone already on Kling: keep it for the shots you deliver, move the exploration off it. The exploration is where the credits go and it is the part that does not need 4K.
Trying it without moving anything
You do not have to migrate to find out. Write the brief you would have given Kling, run it on text to video, and compare what comes back and how long it took.
